From as early as he can remember, Tom Newell wanted to make a difference.
ABOUT TOM
Tom grew up on a small ranch in rural Oklahoma. Following in his dad’s and big brother’s footsteps, he competed in youth rodeo, becoming a state champion at 12 years old. In high school he would compete in speech/debate and FFA judging and speaking contests, winning a state championship in extemporaneous speaking.
He has pastored churches in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Pennsylvania, serving his denomination as both a state and national leader. He also served as a police chaplain in both Oklahoma and Missouri and as adjunct faculty at Seminole State College, teaching business and economics classes.
In 2010, Tom was the first republican ever elected to represent the 28th district of Oklahoma. During his tenure, he served on the Speaker’s leadership team, was a presiding officer, chaired several high profile committees, and was named an “Emerging Leader” by the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Most recently, Tom was a senior fellow and government affairs director for a national free market think tank where he successfully built coalitions, regularly presented to state legislators and testified in legislative committees, and had the largest number of legislative wins in the organizations history (with a new public policy program at that).
Tom is a proud son, father, and grandfather. Tom, his wife, Erin, and his two bonus sons reside just outside of Oklahoma City where you may find them fishing, hunting, or anything else that gets them outside.

In a day of Facebook “friends”, Instagram “followers” and Fantasy sports leagues when is the last time you had a face to face conversation and really connected with another person? It doesn’t matter whether you are an introvert or extrovert-- we need deep, meaningful relationships to thrive. We need to stop “posting” at each other and start connecting with each other. We need to move beyond shallow transactions and engage others’ hearts and minds.
Tom will give you practical steps you can take to begin and strengthen relationships and navigate difficult conversations.
